Success Story: Portland Police Apologize, Pay $10,000.00 Fine for Overt Surveillance

David W. Owens represented Client – owner of a garden supply store – over the course of several years regarding illegal search and seizure and suppression of evidence obtained through improper wiretap.  Portland Police were ordered to remain a set distance from Client’s business and were not permitted on the property or to conduct surveillance on or around the store location. Portland Police subsequently violated the agreement, resulting in a fine of $10,000.00 and a letter of apology from the District Attorney, which also defined that business location as a “no go zone” for officers.
